Relationship Manager, Red & Black Music

Red & Black Music urgently seeks an experienced freelancer to form a dual representation partnership.
 
Red & Black Music is an independent music management label, supplying live music acts for events (private and corporate), concerts, festivals and residencies nationwide. Its principle values are communication and accountability, and its combination of exceptional talent with its uniquely comprehensive and systematic approach ensures the success of the performance, making Red & Black Music the once-trusted live music source for all occasions.

The problem:
As documented in the blog, dealing with people is a minefield. Despite the label's earnest initiatives and tireless efforts to please all, since 2012, Red & Black has repeatedly been fired by agents, let down by musicians, and messed around by clients /phantoms, jokers and flag wavers, due to simple, preventable, misunderstandings.

The solution:
The label is specifically searching for a charismatic, collected, and level-headed presence who can manage and SAFEGUARD human relationships. 1) problem-solving, 2) empathy and 3) advanced communication skills are essential!

​Duties will typically involve:
  1. Making sense of ambiguity.
  2. Contingency planning.
  3. Navigating precarious situations.
  4. Sanity checking of e-mails.
  5. Handling phone calls (so we can start offering this as a secondary service to written communications due to paradoxical demand).

Experience/prior involvement in a music "industry" is completely optional/non-essential. In fact, previous partnerships with Jo, Claire, and Pam, have benefitted from that "extra-musical" expertise, but with a sensitive understanding of the dynamics at play.

In return, you will benefit from:
  1. Admin = taken care of. The routine business operational mechanisms honed since 2012.
  2. Documentation, evaluation, and analytics: put in place via an incident+development log, and a query resolution system.
  3. Structure, order, clarity, advance planning, and meticulous attention to detail.
  4. Web/graphical/digital skills, and a visionary eye for aesthetic, concept, and design.
  5. ​No end of drama.

In other words, all the legwork is done. It just needs delivery.
